Dew Underground Art Auction

All proceeds benefit the Athlete Recovery Fund

In 2008 / 2009, action sports fans had the chance to experience the Winter Dew Tour like never before. Mountain Dew took consumers beyond the competition by providing unprecedented access to the cities, culture and athletes surrounding the tour. The Dew Underground highlighted the best in regional music and art from every stop and brought to life a television studio show with FUEL TV.

Over the Winter Dew Tour's three stops in Breckenridge, CO, Mount Snow, VT and Northstar at Tahoe, CA, Mountain Dew worked with top regional artists to create live works of art inside the Dew Underground. The artists set up in the Dew Underground and unleashed their talents in front of packed crowds.

In Breckenridge, Matthew Doubek worked on his multi-layered, mixed medium paintings. At Mount Snow, artist Mikey Welsh painted with his trademark colorful palette and hands-on style. In Tahoe, art collective CHULE worked intricate stencils into their paintings.

In the spirit of Mountain Dew's ongoing support of action sports athletes, the brand has decided to donate the art pieces created at each Dew Tour Stop to the Athlete Recovery Fund. The ARF will auction off each painting with proceeds going to the athletes; the most important part of action sports.

The Dew Underground Art Auction will be live until July 13, 2009. Be sure to bid on the artwork below and support the Athlete Recovery Fund! Click on the photos below to bid or click here to view the entire auction.

Artists:

Matthew Doubek:
In the fantastical world of Matthew Doubek, a collision is happening every day. Illustration, painting, and collage meet with dumpster-salvaged paint, oversized pencils and permanent markers. It is this synergy that unites characters, places, and stories into one whimsical creation. Upon looking at an original from Doubek, one may be incited to chuckle or just to stare in fascination from the depth inherent in his work. His illustration brings objects to life, giving them wrinkles in their appearance and depth in their character. Doubek goes under the moniker "alias krap master studios" and his work has been featured in numerous national publications and exhibited in New York, Denver, Atlanta, and Minneapolis.

Mikey Welsh:
Mikey Welsh's artistic voice is innovative and powerful, personal and universal. His works are colorful, instinctive, and expressive, like Mikey's life itself. Before his studio art era, Mikey Welsh experienced remarkable success as a talented bassist for the popular band, Weezer. Mikey has seen a lot, traveled the world, and accomplished more than most in his lifetime. Since leaving the music industry, Mikey has devoted his passions and energy towards his love of creating visual art. From sculpture and collages to paintings and drawings, Mikey does them all with a unique and original style. Mikey has recently completed designs for the 2009 Burton Farm line of snowboards.
